| 27 September 2010 | Another Successful TIMMS User Conference
As many will be aware, twice a year Disprax, developers of the popular TIMMS inventory management and accounting software for the timber industry, holds a User Conference to coincide with the release of latest software upgrades. Disprax CEO John Menaghe told TimberTrader News; “It’s not only a great way to network; our customers can get across all the new features in a much more engaging environment.” John said there was a lot of interest in the spotlight session on Automation and Exception Capture in TIMMS “as functionality that can transform a way a business operates and reduces everyday operating costs.” Explaining a little more about the automation possible in TIMMS, he added; “Many businesses might be a little nervous about the idea of automating but it doesn’t mean that you lose control of your business processing. “A good system of automation allows you to create checkpoints for staff to approve transactions or just to make sure everything is as it should be. “Alternatively, you can set up your processes so that you don’t have to do anything! This massively cuts down the amount of time your staff have to spend keying in data (in some cases rekeying it multiple times), reducing errors and saving time.” One of the businesses at the conference, ISM, has used TIMMS for extensive automation across their business and a company representative explained that in the order entry process alone they are saving one full time person. John commented, “Which shows just some of the results you can have achieve when you change what’s possible into everyday business practise. “We recommend businesses find ways to use exception reporting so they are looking at the five per cent of issues that need attention, without wading through 95 per cent of the successes. | 22 March 2010 | Chain of Custody and TIMMS
TIMMS User Conference was held on March 12th and while it’s a regular event for TIMMS users, it had one of it’s largest turnouts with a special topic that on everyone’s lips – Chain of Custody. TIMMS has had a solution to help business manage their certification requirements for a while now and they wanted to share the options available to business that are using the software and looking at certification. Some attendees had already been through the audit process and become certified, while others were still considering the steps to be undertaken; so there was a great forum to share experiences and ask questions. Mick Mash at Mathews Timber was interviewed before the conference to share their experiences of the audit process. Mick said they found TIMMS pivotal in helping them through the audit process, proving certification is maintained from the office to the customer. This was echoed at the conference by attendees such as Mike Rowney from Australian Timber Products, who said that TIMMS was more than able to track the certification information through the various stages of the sales process. John told the group “There is no ‘one size fits all’ answer in TIMMS and TIMMS remains flexible and customisable to cater for different business, now and in the future. We want to keep an open dialogue with everyone to ensure we keep meeting everyone’s needs”. Mick was confident in TIMMS ability to move with the regulations, saying “I’m sure, as more and more people get onboard with Chain of Custody, TIMMS will evolve as it always does”.
